EconoMe — Privacy Policy
EconoMe Inc. (“EconoMe,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect your personal information when you use the EconoMe mobile application (“App”) and related services in Canada, the United States, and other supported regions.
By using EconoMe, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Password or OAuth authentication tokens
- Device information
- Optional profile information (e.g., name)
Authentication is handled through Firebase Authentication.
1.2 Financial Data (via Plaid)
When you link a financial institution, we receive data through Plaid, including:
- Account names
- Account types
- Account balances
- Transaction history
- Institution metadata
We never collect or store your bank login credentials (usernames, passwords, or multi-factor authentication codes).
EconoMe uses Plaid Inc. (“Plaid”) to connect your financial accounts. By using our App and linking a financial institution, you acknowledge and agree that your data will be transferred to Plaid and handled in accordance with the Plaid Privacy Policy .
1.3 Budgeting & User-Generated Data
We collect the information you enter into the App, including:
- Budget categories
- Notes, labels, and custom categorizations
- Linked account names
- Reports and summaries you view or create
1.4 Technical & Usage Data
We collect limited technical information such as:
- Crash logs
- Device type and operating system version
- Basic performance metrics
1.5 Advertising & Tracking
EconoMe does not:
- Use advertising networks
- Use cross-app tracking
- Use third-party marketing SDKs
- Use behavioral or targeted advertising
We do not collect advertising identifiers (IDFA/AAID).
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your data to:
- Provide budgeting and reporting features
- Sync financial accounts and transactions via Plaid
- Generate insights, analytics, and spending summaries
- Maintain app performance, reliability, and security
- Offer customer support
We do not use your financial data for advertising, profiling, or resale.
3. How We Share Information
3.1 Service Providers
We only share data with essential service providers, including:
- Firebase (authentication, database, and secure storage)
- Plaid (account linking and financial data retrieval)
These providers follow strict industry security standards.
3.2 No Data Selling
EconoMe does not:
- Sell personal information
- Rent personal information
- Share data with marketers or advertisers
3.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose information only when required by:
- Law
- Court order
- Regulatory or governmental request
4. Data Security
We rely on Firebase and Google Cloud security controls, including:
- Encryption in transit (TLS)
- Encryption at rest
- Strict access management
- Multi-factor authentication for administrative access
- Principle of least privilege
We never store bank credentials.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain user data only as long as needed to operate the service and for legitimate business or legal purposes.
If you request account deletion:
- Personal, budgeting, and transaction data is deleted from Firestore within approximately 48 hours
- Plaid access tokens are revoked
- Backups are purged automatically within up to 30 days in accordance with Google Cloud’s lifecycle policies
You may delete your account directly inside the App, or request deletion by emailing: support@economeinc.com.
6. Data Minimization
We collect only what is necessary to:
- Provide budgeting functions
- Maintain app performance
- Deliver user-requested features
We do not store unnecessary financial information.
7. Children’s Privacy
EconoMe is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us at support@economeinc.com and we will promptly delete the information.
If you are between the ages of 13 and the age of majority in your province, state, or region, you should only use the App with the permission of a parent or legal guardian.
8. International Data Transfers
Data may be processed and stored in Canada, the United States, or other locations where our service providers operate. These transfers are performed in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including Canadian privacy laws such as PIPEDA and relevant U.S. state privacy requirements.
9. Your Rights
You may request to:
- Access your personal information
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Request deletion of your data
- Obtain a copy of your data in a usable format
- Withdraw consent where applicable
